My name is Steve Kitt and I started Advanced Heating Solutions recently after Gledhill Water Storage went into administration and I was made redundant. This has provided me with the opportunity to put to use the vast amount of knowledge and experience I have gained since 1971.

Heres a little bit about my background.

I started out in the domestic heating industry in 1971 as an apprentice heating engineer in Preston installing domestic heating for British Gas customers, back in those days it was all traditional heating systems (no combi's) and we used to wire our own system controls.

After my apprenticeship I spent a number of years on contracts around the country installing and repairing systems heated by gas, oil, solid fuel and even solar although it was very primitive then.  I ran a Preston based business that covered all aspects of domestic plumbing, heating and electrical work involved in some reasonably large projects but private customers were always a favorite.

Turning 40 years old I thought it was time to settle into something a bit easier (or so I thought) I started work for the manufacturer Gledhill Water Storage. Gledhills renewed my interest in domestic heating as having had a varied career of around 25 years I thought I had been there got the tee shirt as far as plumbing and heating was concerned. This Gledhill stuff made you look at things a bit differently.

I started as a technical support/service engineer just as they started to develop the series III products with the first digital controls I then progressed to Service Manager and for the last seven years I was the Senior Technical Training Manager for the Company.  I was responsible for the training of technical support staff, service engineers, installers and developers on the full range of products past and present from a simple un-vented cylinder to the advanced alternative energy products. This role included supporting the technical support desk and field service engineers with unusual/difficult situations.

My role at Gledhill also gave me the opportunity to work with some of the industries leading experts and keep up to date with the rest of the industry. I have also had the opportunity to make many contacts some of which are very nice people who I would regard as friends in the industry.

With this in mind I started Advanced Heating Solutions with the aim of providing a professional service to anyone that needs to draw on my experience and knowledge to resolve heating and hot water problems.
